Heritage Society

Overview

Those donors who include Furman University in their estate plans, automatically qualify for membership in the Heritage Society. The Furman University Heritage Society currently has more than 775 members, with planned gifts in force totaling over $124 million. The deferred gifts from these alumni, parents and friends will have an immeasurable future impact on the University, enabling many students to benefit from a liberal arts education of the highest caliber. All documented planned gifts also will count toward planned giving class reunion gift totals.

Please consider joining the Heritage Society as part of the "Because Furman Matters" campaign.

How to Join

The following types of commitments, confirmed in writing and subject to certain restrictions, qualify you for membership in :

If you have already included Furman University in a bequest or other planned gift, we hope you will let us know by filling out the member profile form. Your willingness to be listed as a member of encourages others to follow your example. We acknowledge and respect those who wish to remain anonymous, but we urge you to let us know of your plans on a confidential basis in any case. It supports Furman University’s planning for the future. Of course, if you have not yet included Furman University in your plans and you would like to explore the best options for you and your family, do not hesitate to contact us. We would be glad to assist you on a confidential basis and without any obligation.

Benefits of Membership

In an effort to preserve your legacy for the purpose it is intended, we ha ve chosen a few simple ways to recognize your commitment. Each new member will receive a certificate of appreciation and a letter of thanks from the President of Furman University, Dr. David Shi, along with a handsome recognition pin.

Membership benefits of the Heritage Society include parking privileges on campus, the use of the Duke Library and the Lay Physical Activities Center, tickets to Theater Guild productions (upon request), and an annual social event on campus.

In addition to these small expressions of gratitude, we hope you will allow us to recognize you as a member of the Honor Roll of donors. Your inclusion on the Honor Roll encourages others to join in this important effort.

The Heritage Society Honor Roll recognizes all whose extraordinary support will have a lasting effect on future generations of Furman students, faculty and staff.
