Molly Joyce Kirk: Recipient of Furman Scholarships
As the student worker in the stewardship office, Molly Joyce Kirk ’07 sees not only the impact of scholarships on hundreds of Furman students but also the joy and pleasure the donors of the scholarships and their families receive from their gifts. Molly feels these benefits on a personal level because she is the recipient of several scholarships, including the David C. Garrett Jr. Scholarship, the R.E. Littlejohn Scholarship, the Ella Wharton Taylor Scholarship, and the Robert Reuben Bishop and Margaret Emma Bishop Scholarship.
Molly is a sophomore majoring in French with a possible double major in psychology. In addition to her studies and work, Molly is active in the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (formerly known as the Baptist Student Union), the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and club tennis. She is also a freshman advisor. At the moment, she is unsure of her career plans but is thinking of the mission field or Christian counseling.
“I wouldn’t be at Furman if not for scholarships. They have been a real blessing,” says Molly. “I love Furman, and I have grown so much since I have been here. I have matured as a person and as a student.”
